Guided by my own songs and songs I have gathered from being in ceremonies over the years\, we will be together in low light held in the sacred embrace of community\, to uplift a prayer of love and gratitude in the power and beauty of music and sacred song. \nMany of the songs will be in Portuguese and Spanish\, but some also in English and some without words so we can just open our voices and be in the magic of sound. Your voices are very welcome but there is no pressure to sing. You can come and simply receive the songs and prayers in silence. My song ceremonies are usually quite introspective; an opportunity to relax into a kind of timeless elemental space and shed the pressures of the day to day. In this way we can feel supported by the ceremony\, and also have our voices welcomed and heard. \nI look forward very much to being with you all again in the familiar space of St Anne’s Church Hall and nurture our hearts in this way. The event has been tagged in the world\, traditional folk and folk categories. \n  \nBatch Gueye is a West-African Griot\, a storyteller through his music and dance. His mother\, grandmother\, and those before them had been singers. \n  \nSinging Baye Fall chants is where Batch found his voice. Batch’s songs are about life experiences: about travel\, immigration\, places he has lived in and people he met and is grateful to. His songs also talk about feelings such as love and jealousy combined with life wisdom\, teaching to be good to oneself\, respect others\, to trust and to have faith in life. Batch sings his songs in the Senegalese language Wolof. However\, language does not obstruct his music. The passion Batch has can be heard in his soulful voice and understood by all. \n  \nAwarded “Best Artist in the Diaspora” at Raaya Music Awards 2022\, Batch Gueye has released six albums to date and has played at various international music festivals\, including WOMAD\, Glastonbury\, Shambala\, Jazz Fest\, WOMEX\, Africa Oye and Boom Town. \n  \nBatch Gueye Band \nThursday 10th October \nDoors Open 7.30pm \nThe Jam Jar\, Bristol \n  \nBatch’s energy as a dancer is as vibrant and colourful as the patchwork clothes of his BayeFall people.
