SUMMARY:West African Music Jam Jar
DESCRIPTION:https://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/whats-on/jam-jar/thu-10-oct-batch-gueye-band-113830#e113830\n\n  \nheld at The Jam Jar on Thursday 10th October. Doors are at 19:30 with entertainment starting at 20:30. The event finishes at 23:30. The event has been tagged in the world\, traditional folk and folk categories. \n  \nBatch Gueye is a West-African Griot\, a storyteller through his music and dance. His mother\, grandmother\, and those before them had been singers. \n  \nSinging Baye Fall chants is where Batch found his voice. Batch’s songs are about life experiences: about travel\, immigration\, places he has lived in and people he met and is grateful to. His songs also talk about feelings such as love and jealousy combined with life wisdom\, teaching to be good to oneself\, respect others\, to trust and to have faith in life. Batch sings his songs in the Senegalese language Wolof. However\, language does not obstruct his music. The passion Batch has can be heard in his soulful voice and understood by all. \n  \nAwarded “Best Artist in the Diaspora” at Raaya Music Awards 2022\, Batch Gueye has released six albums to date and has played at various international music festivals\, including WOMAD\, Glastonbury\, Shambala\, Jazz Fest\, WOMEX\, Africa Oye and Boom Town. \n  \nBatch Gueye Band \nThursday 10th October \nDoors Open 7.30pm \nThe Jam Jar\, Bristol \n  \nBatch’s energy as a dancer is as vibrant and colourful as the patchwork clothes of his BayeFall people. Like his music\, his dance style is a collection of both traditional and modern African cultures\, and his combination of strong and fast movement promises to be a striking display. Batch has performed as a professional dancer for many famous Senegalese artists including Youssou N’Dour\, Baaba Maal\, Cheikh Lo\, and Coumba Gawlo. \n  \nJoin us in celebrating the Award-winning Bristol-based artist Batch Gueye\, as he continues to bridge cultures and uplift those around him through his soulful music.
